The announcement was made on the party’s website, alongside the launch of a dedicated portal for digital contributions.
The party stated that it will initially accept Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and USDT via a third-party custodian to ensure regulatory compliance and secure storage. Supporters can also donate through QR codes generated by the platform, with all transactions logged transparently to uphold donation limits.
According to Reform UK’s finance team, the decision aligns with the party’s broader platform of championing financial freedom, innovation, and privacy. “In an era where digital finance is transforming lives, political institutions must adapt or risk irrelevance,” said Farage in a press release.
The move also appears strategically timed ahead of upcoming national elections. By embracing crypto, Reform UK is courting younger, tech-savvy voters and libertarian-leaning supporters who distrust traditional banking systems.
The UK Electoral Commission has been notified and will be monitoring the process. Donations over £500 will be subject to identity verification and reporting requirements in accordance with British electoral law.
While other parties across Europe have discussed digital contributions in theory, Reform UK is the first to implement a full-fledged crypto infrastructure. Analysts say this could pressure mainstream parties to follow suit, particularly as digital asset ownership among EU citizens continues to rise.
