    Vietnam Fully Legalizes Crypto Under New Digital Tech Law

    Vietnam’s National Assembly has passed the landmark “Digital Technology Industry Law,” formally legalizing crypto assets and establishing a regulatory framework by January 1, 2026. This marks a historic transformation of digital rights and responsibilities in one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic economies.

    Under the new law, crypto and virtual assets are classified separately from securities and fiat currencies, clarifying their legal status. The statute mandates anti-money laundering standards and cybersecurity protocols aligned with international watchdog expectations steps aimed at resolving longstanding concerns highlighted by the Financial Action Task Force.
