Wall Street Debuts Tokenized Money Market Funds to Surpass Stablecoins

Wall Street heavyweight institutions are now offering tokenized money market funds designed to compete with stablecoins in the digital asset ecosystem. Goldman Sachs and BNY Mellon have partnered to launch blockchain based ownership tokens tied to fully collateralized cash funds from major asset managers. The goal is to provide liquidity similar to stablecoins while retaining institutional grade transparency and compliance. These products benefit from the recently passed U.S. stablecoin law, which legitimizes fiat backed digital representations, and tap into the $7 trillion money fund market. Unlike stablecoins that pay no yield, these tokenized instruments deliver cash equivalent interest and enable fractional trading and use as collateral. Proponents expect reduced settlement times, lower overhead, and improved accessibility. Critics, however, caution that tokenized funds inherit risks from both sides: crypto infrastructure and traditional financial market instability. Still, many see this development as a logical evolution of digital finance that bridges regulated finance and DeFi innovation.
