Kraken Debuts U.S. Crypto Derivatives Platform After Acquiring NinjaTrader

Kraken has completed its $1.5 billion acquisition of NinjaTrader and launched a new crypto derivatives platform in the U.S., empowering institutional and retail clients with futures and advanced trading tools. NinjaTrader’s Futures Commission Merchant registration brings trust and regulatory clarity, enabling Kraken to offer crypto futures directly to U.S. customers. As part of its global expansion, Kraken will integrate equity and derivatives access while maintaining NinjaTrader as a standalone brand.

With this move, Kraken becomes a multi-asset trading hub combining equities, crypto, futures, and analytical tools. Co-CEO Arjun Sethi emphasizes this expansion aligns with the firm’s vision to offer seamless cross-asset capabilities. The integration also positions Kraken to tap growing demand in U.S. crypto derivatives markets, now under a more favorable regulatory environment following the SEC’s dismissal of its previous lawsuit.

Kraken’s first-quarter 2025 report revealed $472 million in revenue (up 19 percent year-over-year), fueled by transaction volume growth and funded account expansion. Integration with NinjaTrader’s sophisticated execution engines and futures liquidity is expected to attract professional traders and institutional clients. AI-driven diligence tools allowed Kraken to accelerate the acquisition efficiently, highlighting the evolving sophistication of fintech mergers.

Overall, this expansion marks a strategic milestone. Kraken now presents a unified platform for crypto and traditional finance trading, signaling maturity in execution and readiness to compete at the institutional level.
