JPMorgan Labels Circle Underweight, Predicts $80 by End of 2026

JPMorgan has issued a bearish forecast for Circle’s stock, placing it in the underweight category and setting a price target of $80 by late 2026. The bank’s analysts noted that ongoing regulatory uncertainties around stablecoins and fluctuating yields on public deposits significantly weigh on Circle’s valuation. With the proposed GENIUS Act and evolving U.S. Treasury policies still pending, the timing of formal stablecoin oversight remains unclear, affecting investor confidence.

Circle’s balance sheet, which holds sizable U.S. Treasury reserves, is exposed if interest rates fall or redemptions accelerate. JPMorgan warned that while Circle remains solvent, future yield compression could erode profit margins. Meanwhile, the firm’s forays into tokenization and EuroCoin (a euro-pegged stablecoin) may carry execution risk, with European regulations offering unclear pathways to profitability.

The assessment factors in macro conditions, including slowing economic growth, which may prompt rate cuts and impact treasury yields. If that happens, stablecoin issuers may struggle to maintain redemptions at a spread over inflation. The report outlines a downside scenario anchored to weaker-than-expected revenue and a slowdown in demand for Circle’s products.

JPMorgan suggests that Circle may need to pivot more toward services like tokenized bonds or DeFi-compatible infrastructure to offset shrinking revenue from Terra-based features and swap products. The bank remains open to upward revision if clarity emerges around onchain asset regulation or if revenues from new initiatives materialize sooner.
