PNC Bank Partners With Coinbase to Introduce Crypto Trading for Clients

PNC Bank has signed a strategic partnership with Coinbase to offer cryptocurrency trading services to its retail and business customers. The agreement allows users to buy, hold, and sell digital assets directly through PNC’s banking infrastructure using Coinbase’s institutional grade Crypto as a Service technology. As part of the collaboration, PNC will also provide select banking services to Coinbase.

The rollout is expected to begin in late 2025 and marks a pivotal shift for U.S. regional banks into regulated crypto products. PNC’s CEO has publicly endorsed the partnership as a response to growing consumer demand and regulatory clarity following recent legislation like the GENIUS Act. Analysts see this as part of a broader trend where banks increasingly embed on chain features, such as wallet integrations, token rewards, and stablecoin payments into their core offerings.

This development provides PNC with a competitive edge among similar regional institutions and positions it alongside larger banks now entering the digital asset ecosystem. The move also reflects a new era in which banking and crypto services merge, enabling users to transact seamlessly across both domains.
